Pioneers in organic herbs from day one.

We love herbs. And our love affair began back in 1934. While we picked our own herbs back in the beginning, it wasn’t long before we added imports, and then partnerships with Alpine farmers, to our arsenal. Since 1996, Kennel has promoted the cultivation of organic herbs and other plant-based raw materials. The organic pioneer of the early days has since become a well-versed herbal specialist with an inestimable wealth of experience and a vast network of relationships with producers in Switzerland and beyond. We are still right at the forefront of innovation with pilot projects and exciting new organic products to this day, supporting our customers from the initial idea to the finished product.

Our philosophy:
we believe in organic.

Acting as a link between flora and the finished product, farming families and consumers, we do all we can to create top-quality products. From the idea and growing to the end product, Kennel is a one-stop shop – thoughtful, nimble, organic and sustainable.

Sustainability:
much more than the environment.

Kennel is sustainable from root to bloom. We use natural raw materials and are pioneers in organic farming, promoting herb growing in mountain areas. For us, sustainability is about far more than just the environment – it starts with how we treat our partners and employees.

Innovation:
new ideas for the quality organic produce of tomorrow.

Nature is versatile, adaptable and full of little miracles. We approach every potential opportunity for new herb innovations with the same flexibility and openness. Whether our customers want to use Swiss herbs or are seeking specific organic raw materials, at Kennel, we listen, contribute and develop the right solution that tastes or works exactly the way our customers want it to.

Our history: from a pioneer to a partner in herbs.

Pioneering spirit, proximity to nature and partnerships have shaped the history of our Swiss SME, founded in 1934 in Baar. (Baar circa 1934)
In the early days, our herbs did not come from targeted farming; they were gathered in central Switzerland. When the quantities were no longer sufficient to reach the high levels of demand, herbs were imported.
Since 1996, Kennel AG (previously known as Hans Kennel AG) has been certified organic and licensed by Bio Suisse.
Until the early 2000s, Kennel regularly produced herb blends for schnapps distilleries, plant-based remedies, feed and feed additives for cows, rabbits and other animals.
With a focus on organic production, together with Migros and Ricola, Kennel decided to promote herb cultivation in Switzerland and support Alpine farmers. Local herb farming cooperatives were founded on this basis. This working community still exists today.
In 2005, Hans Kennel AG merged with the St. Gallen-based family business Dixa AG. This was the birth of Kennel AG as we know it today. The focus on organic quality and herbs grown in Switzerland remained. The merger brought with it countless synergies.
Together, the two have written 64 years of Kennel history. Liselotte Büchi and Peter Studer are still on hand today to offer the company their valuable advice.
In 2021, Kennel emerged with a new look, adding modern appeal to its tried and tested approach.
